Each morning they come into town looking for food. They wander the streets and greet the tourists. Burro pellets and carrots are for sale at many of the shops — the burros will eat all day if you feed them. Shortly before sunset they wander back to the hills.

1:30pm | Board Motor coach to Petersen Museum
Located at the end of “Miracle Mile” and the third-most travelled intersection in Los Angeles, the museum appropriately uses the city as a prime example of the impact of the automobile on American life and culture. The museum is housed in a historic department store building dating back to 1962, the façade of which was redesigned by the architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox in 2015. As a result of the $90 million renovation, the interior of the original Welton Becket-designed building now features 25 rotating exhibitions with more than 150 vehicles on view.
Take a “behind the scenes” tour of some of the most unique cars in the collection that are not on display in the museum galleries. The Vault is home to cars representing over 100 years of automotive history, some of which have rarely been seen by the public. A docent will guide you through the Vault while sharing stories about a selection of the cars in our diverse collection.
The Highlights Tour is a private docent-led tour and is designed to give visitors an overview of all three floors of the Petersen. We will receive information about some of the most interesting automotive exhibits and vehicles on display. The tour will take us through the Hollywood Gallery on the History Floor, Hot Rods and Customs on the Industry Floor, and the Mullin Grand Salon on the Artistry Floor, among many others. ** Admissions included in registration ** |
