Crawford, Texas couple Ron and Lori Galt decided the perfect day to donate their beautiful 2005 Daytona Sunset Orange Corvette would be the day they took delivery of their new 2019 Arctic White Grand Sport Coupe. The C6 beauty would be the first of that model year to be donated to the Museum.

“We’ve spent a lot of time in it,” shared Ron. “I remember when we first got it. We saw a car in the same color in the back of the dealership. When we saw the color we said, ‘this has got to be the best color I’ve ever seen.’ And it changes colors as the day goes on, which you have to really watch to see. I’m glad that somebody else can see it now.” Of the 37,372 Corvettes made in 2005, only 2,379 were Daytona Sunset Orange Coupes.

The Galt’s first Corvette, Ron shared that he had really wanted a car that he could drive. “Lori and I had wanted to take trips around the USA and this was the car we wanted to do it in. We went everywhere. We got it down pat with packing it up and knowing where everything goes,” added Ron. “I could drive this car every day, and I did for a while.”

The couple joined as Lifetime Members of the Museum the day they purchased the car and last visited the Museum and Plant in 2013. “We were members of a Corvette Club in California and they kept saying ‘you’ve got to go to the Museum’ and so we did,” said Lori.

Lori was a little hesitant at donating the car that they’d made so many memories in, but in the end,  Ron was able to convince her by purchasing a newer model.  “I didn’t really want to give it to anybody else,” said Ron. “I thought it would be better if the Museum can use, so I called them up to see, and they said sure, so I thought what the heck.” The Galts drove the C6 all the way from Texas to the Museum to donate it on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 and drove their C7 all the way back home.

Thank you to Ron and Lori Galt, not only for the wonderful donation but for choosing the Museum to take delivery of your beautiful new Corvette!
