At the National Corvette Museum, our mission to educate and preserve the legacy of America’s Sports Car doesn’t just live in gleaming fiberglass and chrome—it thrives in the stories, documents, and memories that shape the Corvette community. Our Library & Archives team is driven by that mission every day, and their latest project is a powerful testament to it.

A Legacy in Paper and Print

Recently, the Museum welcomed a significant archival donation from the O’Keefe Family. The collection, carefully cataloged and stewarded by Museum Archivist Madison Modeszto, centers around Ed O’Keefe’s 38-year career at General Motors. As a product improvement engineer, Ed played a pivotal role in the evolution of vehicles coming out of the Bowling Green Assembly Plant, and his work with the Corvette Action Center further expanded his influence on Corvette culture.

Archival Work That Drives the Future

Cataloging a collection like this isn’t a simple scan-and-store operation. It’s a multi-stage process that begins with conditioning the items—ensuring their physical preservation—and then documenting each piece for future reference. Once stabilized, the materials are housed according to archival standards, ensuring their longevity and accessibility for researchers, historians, and Corvette enthusiasts alike.

From internal GM memos to plant culture snapshots, the O’Keefe collection adds vital texture to our understanding of the Corvette legacy. It offers an insider’s view of not just vehicle development but also the people, processes, and passion that shaped Bowling Green’s Corvette story.

Fueling Research and Curiosity

As with every archival acquisition, the goal is clear: to preserve and share. Once the O’Keefe materials are processed, they will become a part of the Museum’s ever-growing collection of over 50,000 Corvette artifacts. These resources are available to researchers and writers who seek to explore the deeper history behind America’s Sports Car.

This is the kind of work that keeps Corvette’s story alive—and ensures it continues to inspire generations to come.
