Corvette Makes 2020 10Best Cars and Trucks List by Car and Driver

Each year Car and Driver recognizes the top cars, trucks and SUVs and in previous years would hand out 20 annual 10Best awards. This year was different… instead of splitting up cars, trucks and SUVs, the vehicles were lumped togeether. All vehicles below their $90,000 price cap were eligible for a 10Best trophy.

“What we didn’t change is how we conduct our testing. We still call our entire editorial staff together for two weeks to shake down and test everything that’s new or significantly redesigned. This year, 92 vehicles went through the gauntlet. We cull that mix of cars, trucks, SUVs, and vans into our 10Best.”

Earning a nod is the 2020 Corvette.

“Never before in our history has a car won a 10Best award in both front-and mid-engine layouts. The C8 Corvette is an improvement over its predecessor. It even hits 60 mph in less time than the old, 755-hp ZR1. Behind the seats is a 490-hp 6.2-liter V-8 that’s made in America. Purists will howl about the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic completely replacing the six-speed manual, but the automatic shifts instantly and allows the driver to have full control. Chevy tuned the Corvette to have a quiet and comfortable ride that makes it possible to drive it daily. We’d like to point out that the C8 Corvette starts out at $59,995, a price that’s less than a 718 Boxster. It’s a supercar bargain.”
