Surprises at the Museum are always fun, but they’re even moreso when it’s a member of your ‘extended’ Museum family. John and Carol Fort of Wilmington, NC have been Lifetime Members of the Museum since 1997, are members of the Spire Society, and not only have volunteered for many years at the Museum but are currently the event volunteer coordinators each year for the Michelin NCM Bash and Anniversary Celebration.

Husband, John, has been planning the ruse for quite some time, having the idea to order a new car in January and getting daughter Charlotte and her husband Scott (also Museum Lifetime Members, volunteers and Corvette owners) involved. The Forts were in town to assume their volunteer roles and enjoy the festivities of the Michelin NCM Bash, but leading into the event John decided to surprise his bride of 55 years with a 2019 Arctic White Grand Sport Corvette Convertible. Leading her out to Corvette Boulevard, she spots her daughter, whom she wasn’t expecting to be present at the Museum for a few days, and the new ride.

“When we celebrated Mom and Dad’s 50th Anniversary, I made the statement ’50 years and still cruising,” said Charlotte. “Corvette trips are something they love to do together and I’m excited they now have a new ride to do them in!”

The reaction is priceless. Check out the video of this special moment!
