NCM ‘Museum in Motion’ is visiting the Roanoke, West Virginia area for a little ‘R & R’ before the National Corvette Museum’s Labor Day Celebration.

Experience the incredible views and observe wildlife and plant species indigenous to the lake environment. *Kayak, Canoe or Paddleboat on the Stonewall Jackson Lake, *Play Golf on the Palmer Signature Coarse. *Massages and Body treatments in Mt. Laurel Spa, The Jacuzzi, Sauna and Stream Room will push the stress right out of your minds. Relax around or swim in the Indoor/Outdoor pool. Complementary “fun in the sun” boat cruise on Little Sorrel each afternoon. Enjoy Drinks in TJ Muskies offering craft beer, a nice wine selection and legendary mixed beverages. Relax around the fire pit located outside TJ Muskies every night with a wood burning fire and friendly conversation.

2:00pm The Criminally Insane Tour – Trans-Allegheny Asylum

Formerly known as the Weston State Hospital, this West Virginia facility served as a sanctuary for the mentally ill in the mid-1800’s. The history of the building holds fascinating stories of Civil War raids, a gold robbery, the “curative” effects of architecture, and the efforts of determined individuals to help better the lives of the mentally ill.

Anniversary Celebration @ National Corvette Museum

2018 NCM 24th Anniversary Celebration and Hall of Fame Induction
Aug 30 – Sept 1, 2018

In the 2 decades since the Museum opened the scope of the vision has blossomed to include changes such as the dedicated special exhibit hall, dedicated PDI delivery area, restoration area, full service store, interactive exhibits and a full motorsports park.

Every year around the Labor Day weekend we celebrate the Grand Opening of the Museum in 1994 with a participant focused event.  This year we mark the 24th Anniversary milestone and focus on the diversity of the people that Corvette has brought together for a look back on the Museum’s history and forward to the future!  Registered can enjoy 3 days of activities in and around the Museum including access to interesting and unique road tours, special video presentations, raffles, the annual open Membership meeting and more during this event in honor of your help and support! The event will also include the Lifetime/HOF Inductee dinner, 10/15/20/25-year member recognition, Ambassador Luncheon, and the “Corvette Hall of Fame” Induction Ceremony and banquet where we will induct new members into the prestigious and elite group of recipients who have made a significant contribution to Corvette history.

Hall of Fame inductees for 2018 are John & Burt Greenwood, Tom Wallace, and Mike Yager. Individual seating and group tables are available.

 

Anniversary registration is no charge to Lifetime members, $20 for members and $30 for non- members with deadline for online registration 5:00pm central, Thursday, August 16th, 2018.  Early registration includes a hard card badge, lanyard, event pin and dash plaque.

Onsite registration will Begin on Wednesday August 29th at 1pm. Onsite prices are $5 for Lifetime, $25 for Members, $35 for Non-Members

Watch as the Performance Build Center Team completely reassembles an LT5 engine from top to bottom. Feel free to ask the team about the parts, the engine, and the process during the build. After the team has finished building the engine from the bare block, they will talk about the testing, sequencing, and other processes to get the final engine ready to go in a Z06 Corvette.

Join us for our 2nd annual Shifting & Shooting event at the scenic 2,000-acre Rockcastle Shooting Center. Begin with a scenic drive on our KY back-roads. Then, shoot for fun or for points with a trophy awarded to the winner. Lunch, ammunition, and firearms will be provided with Range Officers at each station to ensure a fun and safe event.

  • Activities include: AR Speed Plate / Rifle plate rack, 2 strings each / Rimfire 2 gun run / 6 pistol targets from separate tables / Pistol Run / 5 paper targets, 2 rounds per target, 2 strings of fire (GSSF 5 to Glock) / Shotgun speed run, 7 targets

 To keep the playing field level, we ask that you use the provided firearms. You may bring your own handgun for target practice between events, but you must provide your own ammunition if you do. This should be an action-packed day of firing range fun with Corvette friends.

The house that came to symbolize Kentucky’s gracious hospitality and according to legend inspired Stephen Collins Foster to write his immortal song, “My Old Kentucky Home” is one of the most cherished historical sites in the commonwealth. Then on to close-by Kurtz restaurant to enjoy some historic charm and great southern hospitality for lunch.

ONLY time to get on track during our Anniversary!! All day touring offered with the times that fit to your schedule. With lead / follow car –  an average of highway speeds is the norm! Drive your own Corvette. Convertibles and passengers welcome.

1:30pm – 2:30pm S3: Pikes Peak – Robb Hollands Experience

The start line for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is 9,390 feet above sea level, and the finish line is at an elevation of 14,115 feet. The road between the two is windy, often without any protective barrier between you and sheer drops down the mountain. Really, it’s the perfect place for an 850-hp Corvette Z06 time attack car. You’ve got to give credit to Robb Holland and everyone else that races at Pikes Peak—it’s a road that’d be scary at 25 mph, let alone 125.

MiM ‘Pacific Coast Highway’
September 10 – 16, 2018

 

 

The NCM’s Museum in Motion heads to Northern California in September of 2018 for a scenic coastal tour of the Pacific Coast Highway. Following the IMSA race and Corvette Racing Banquet on the weekend of Sept 8 & 9, we will meet and start our MiM from Seaside, CA. Together we will drive the scenic coastal Hwy 1 towards Mendacino before making our way back though beautiful wine country making stops at castles and wineries and other interesting sights along the way. This MiM will be on the go – a total of 5 hotels all together! All included in your registration.

Please mark your calendar and hope you can join us on this unique West Coast Museum in Motion.

Half Moon Bay is a small city on the California coast, south of San Francisco. A string of beaches along the bay includes Half Moon Bay State Beach. The Coastside Trail leads north to Pillar Point, near the huge waves of the Mavericks surf spot. Nearby, Montara Mountain rises in the protected Rancho Corral de Tierra area. The Purisima Creek Redwoods Preserve is on the slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

2018 will usher in the 9th annual KY 1 Lap tour, part of the Museum in Motion (MiM) program and unique in that it is a partnership between the National Corvette Museum and the Kentucky State Police. The two organizations will join to raise money for both the Museum and Trooper Island, a KSP non-profit camp for underprivileged children. Each year the Tour explores a different section of Kentucky. As always, the tour will be led by TPR. Jonathan Biven – Trooper Island Camp Director now using a newly painted marked silver Corvette which is sure to attract attention as the caravan travels through an area of real Americana.  This year are discovering some of our main attractions that have made KY famous. Bourbon, Horses, and new to KY is the Ark Encounter – a life size Noah’s Ark.

Due to overwhelming interest, we are offering this tour 4 consecutive weeks in October.

  • Tour 1 – Oct. 8 through Oct. 13
  • Tour 2 – Oct. 15 through Oct. 20
  • Tour 3 – Oct. 22 through Oct. 27
  • Tour 4 – Oct. 29 through Nov. 2

** Tour 4 will be going to Buffalo Trace Distillery and the KY Horse Park instead of Taylormade Farms and Keeneland

Taylor Made is an 1,100 acre Thoroughbred paradise located in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Upon arrival, you will be treated like a part of the Taylor Family and get to see firsthand what it takes to make a Champion! As your experience begins, you and your farm host will visit a mare & foal division where you will see the foaling quarters, paddocks, and of course the future stars! You’ll then make you way to a yearling division where you’ll learn about the transition from weanlings to yearlings. Finally, you’ll visit the Stallion Complex. Taylor Made is an 1,100 acre Thoroughbred paradise located in Nicholasville, Kentucky. As your experience begins, you and your farm host will visit a mare & foal division where you will see the foaling quarters, paddocks, and of course the future stars! You’ll then make you way to a yearling division where you’ll learn about the transition from weanlings to yearlings. Finally, you’ll visit the Stallion Complex. 2018 will usher in the 9th annual KY 1 Lap tour, part of the Museum in Motion (MiM) program and unique in that it is a partnership between the National Corvette Museum and the Kentucky State Police. The two organizations will join to raise money for both the Museum and Trooper Island, a KSP non-profit camp for underprivileged children. Each year the Tour explores a different section of Kentucky. As always, the tour will be led by TPR. Jonathan Biven – Trooper Island Camp Director now using a newly painted marked silver Corvette which is sure to attract attention as the caravan travels through an area of real Americana.  This year are discovering some of our main attractions that have made KY famous. Bourbon, Horses, and new to KY is the Ark Encounter – a life size Noah’s Ark.

Due to overwhelming interest, we are offering this tour 4 consecutive weeks in October.

  • Tour 1 – Oct. 8 through Oct. 13
  • Tour 2 – Oct. 15 through Oct. 20
  • Tour 3 – Oct. 22 through Oct. 27
  • Tour 4 – Oct. 29 through Nov. 2

Add your car show to our calendar!

The Museum will add car shows to our calendar, simply fill out the form below to submit your information for consideration to be included.

Please allow up to 10 business days for your event to appear online. Each month all events added to our calendar that are occurring the next month will be listed in our email newsletter.

If you have submitted your event in years’ past and the description/information is the same, you can simply submit name of event, new dates and location and we will update the dates leaving everything else the same.
