Welcome to the 2024 South Central Texas Caravan

My name is Arthur Ralph Christ and I will be the Captain for the 2024 TX portion of the Caravan Route. I have participated in every Museum Caravan. All of them have provided me new friends and fond memories. In the past, I was President of the Austin based Longhorn Corvette Club and a member of the San Antonio based Texas Corvette Association. I am now retired and reside in the TX Hill Country/Kerrville TX. I am a life time Corvette Museum member and proud owner of several corvettes. Until recently I had a complete collection of Corvette Indy 500 Pace Cars from 1978 thru 2008. After retiring I sold a couple of them and gave one to our lovely daughter on her 50th birthday. While living in Austin TX, we also had a one of a kind Corvette shaped swimming pool built in our back yard. I still have a garage full of Pace Cars, and a new 2021 convertible in Rapid Blue. My wife Joan of 52 years, and I plan to lead the 2024 Caravan in that car.

Our Caravan will be leading the South Central TX clubs and any others interested parties. We plan to travel north up I-35 connecting into I-30 and heading into Little Rock, AR for the first night stay-over. The following day we will make the remainder of the trip to the Bowling Green National Corvette Museum. I am still working out some logistics, details, and welcome all input and thoughts. I am working with several of the major TX clubs. I expect this route to cover/handle the following major clubs/cities in TX. Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Austin, Killeen, and Waco before joining up with the Houston area clubs in Texarkana in route to Little Rock, AR. (Note: Dallas area has decided to go North and hook up with New Mexico and Oklahoma.)

Day 1, Wednesday 8/28/2024:

This route will start off in Kerrville. From there we will head over to I-35 north of San Antonio to a Buc-ee’s (2760 I-35, New Braunfels) for fuel and gathering up additional folks. Next stop will be north of Austin to the Buc-ee’s in Temple. Both have easy access and plenty of room, fuel, food for everyone.. Next we will travel to Buc-ee’s in Royse City on I-30 east of Dallas. (Notice a Buc-ee’s theme) After lunch we will continue our travel east I-30 with a brief stop at the Central Mall in Texarkana to join up with Houston area Caravan. From there onto our last stop of the day, Bale Chevrolet in Little Rock, AR. Bale Chevrolet has been a long time sponsor of the Corvette Caravan and once again will provide us some great hospitality with free food, beverages, t-shirt, and the making of new friends. At this point you can leave at your leisure to check into your hotel.

Day 2, Thursday 8/29/2024:

After breakfast, we will gather at Bale Chevrolet and continue on our Caravan journey to a stop in Memphis TN. From Memphis we will drive to Nashville TN for a stop, then onward to Bowing Green, arriving late afternoon. I welcome any and all thoughts/comments. To stay up to date; Please email me the following information; Name, phone #, email address and area of TX. I also plan to sale some special Polo’s for those on our journey. Let me also know your interest in those along with sizes.
