Delivered with the R8C option code and full VIP National Corvette Museum delivery experience, the Garner’s factory-fresh Artic White Stingray Convertible received a thundering boom of applause as it excited the Museum’s Corvette Boulevard, marking not only the historic VIN but also the start of 2024 model year deliveries at the Museum.

The story and car are even more special for the Garners, who previously owned a 2019 Watkins Glen Grey Corvette Grand Sport which was damaged by a storm in their nearby home of Smiths Grove, Kentucky. The Corvette was insured by NCM Insurance, the leading provider of client-focused collector car insurance, catering to the needs of automotive enthusiasts and collectors across the country. With NCM insurance at their side, the expedited claim process and customer service made the timing to take delivery of VIN #001 easier and more efficient.

“The new Corvette is an amazing car, and I’m most excited to get out and enjoy a drive,” explained owner Jeff Garner. “Our 2019 was a special car as that was a gift from my wife Missy, but to have a VIN #001 car, and take delivery at the Museum, makes this my dream Corvette.”

While the Garner’s VIN #001 is a unique car, the R8C delivery is an adventure like no other and a memorable addition to your new Corvette purchase. Thousands of enthusiasts take delivery of their new Corvette at the National Corvette Museum each year. Available through any Chevrolet Dealer, when specified during ordering, R8C customers are welcomed with signs and a guided VIP tour of the Museum where their car is displayed on Corvette Boulevard, followed by an orientation and presentation of their new vehicle. Customers also receive a one-year individual membership to the National Corvette Museum, a unique gold decal on the inside of the driver’s door jamb, and a commemorative wall plaque with the customer’s name, date of delivery, and VIN.

On July 2nd, the National Corvette Museum proudly celebrated the R8C Delivery Program’s 14,000th Corvette Delivery. John and Gina Engel had no idea that they would be the 14,000th delivery customers when they chose the R8C Delivery option. John and Gina’s first visit to the Museum was a trip to remember because they also became Corvette owners for the first time. The Engel’s journey from Omaha, NE to Bowling Green, KY to pick up their new 2021 Red Mist Corvette Coupe was undoubtedly well worth it.

The Engel’s chose R8C Delivery so that they could make the process of picking up their new Corvette an extra special occasion. The R8C delivery option is available through any Chevrolet Dealer at an added cost of $995.00. During their Museum visit, R8C Delivery customers are given a VIP guided tour, a quality orientation, a thorough delivery presentation of their new Corvette, and even more. John and Gina shared that having a delivery host walk them through the car was “so nice” and made them feel “more comfortable” about handling the 2021 Corvette themselves.

After the Engel’s day at the Museum, John shared that he recommends Corvette buyers to consider doing R8C Museum Delivery because of everything it includes. The National Corvette Museum has offered the option of Museum Delivery since 1995 and is extremely grateful for the 14,000 customers that have shown their support over the years. The goal of the R8C Museum Delivery Program is to allow new Corvette Owners to have an exclusive and memorable experience. The Museum is incredibly happy that it could create this special moment for the 14,000th time.

This week, Lifetime Museum Members, Wayne and PJ Ray, were able to pick up their brand-new 2021 Zeus Bronze C8 Stingray. As this car would replace their current 2015 C7 Corvette, they needed to find the C7 a new home. Wayne and PJ decided to give their Blade Silver C7 Stingray to their son, Rick, who also loves Corvettes. Rather than simply telling Rick their intentions, the Rays decided to make the gesture extra special by surprising Rick with his own NCM Delivery Experience.

Featured from Left to Right are: PJ, Wayne, Rick, Heidi, and Nicholas Ray.

Wayne and PJ did a great job keeping the secret, as their son had no idea they were surprising him with a Museum Delivery for the C7. Rick was brought to tears by his parent’s surprise and was extremely happy to be the new owner of the C7 stating he, “loves this car and has loved it since the day his parents bought it.” Rick will also enjoy the extra customizations his parents added over the years to make the car more original.

Rick’s wife, Heidi, and son, Nicholas, were also present for the heartwarming moment. Heidi mentioned that her husband, “has dreamed about having a Corvette since they met.” Rick and Heidi are Lifetime Legacy Members of the Museum, so they are thrilled to now be official Corvette owners. Nicholas thought his grandparents were just going to sign the car over to his father, so he was moved by the Museum Delivery Experience his grandparents set up as well. Nicholas said it was, “awesome” to see his father’s dream come true.

On Tuesday, March 10 the National Corvette Museum celebrated the first Museum-delivered 2020 Corvette. Glenn and Andrea Johnson of Port Neches, Texas were the first customers to pick up their ‘next generation’ mid-engine Corvette through option R8C, the Museum Delivery Program.

When ordering a new Corvette, customers may select option “R8C,” designating their car for Museum pickup. The ‘red-carpet’ VIP experience includes signage welcoming the customers to the Museum, a guided tour of the Museum where their Corvette is on display (and plant tour when available), a quality and detailed orientation on the car followed by celebratory drive out of the Museum for photos. Delivery customers are provided with the opportunity to take an NCM Motorsports Park-owned Corvette for touring laps around the road course to round out their day.

VIN 29, a Torch Red Stingray Coupe, arrived on Friday, March 6 along with ten other R8C optioned cars and one car for the NCM Motorsports Park. This was the first R8C Delivery for the Johnsons, and the sixth Corvette they have owned. Glenn joined the Museum’s board of directors in 2015 and currently serves as chair.

“Being involved with the Museum, I felt that not only does their Delivery program do such a good job, but it is also another way we can support the mission of the Museum,” shared Glenn.

The Johnsons first purchased a 1982 Corvette, which they kept for several years. In 2005 he and wife, Andrea, had retired and shortly thereafter purchased a 2007 Convertible. It was a car that they traveled very little in at the time. While googling Corvette, Glenn came across the website for the National Corvette Museum and decided to join as a member. They’d visited Bowling Green in 1989, touring the Corvette Plant, but had not returned since.

“I got online and saw where the Museum was having an annual celebration, and asked Andrea if she’d like to go to Bowling Green. She said, ‘you’re actually going to take your car?’ It’s a day and a half drive for us. But we got in the car and came!”

Glenn recalls being warmly greeted and thoroughly impressed with the facility. The Museum was under construction with a new addition. That evening at the hotel he met other Corvette owners and became fast friends. “They saw us in our Corvette shirts, and we started talking about Corvette and the Museum. We learned they were very involved and big supporters of the Museum, involved with their clubs back home, and they drove their cars. If they got a rock chip, it was a badge of honor.”

By the time the Johnsons left Bowling Green, they were Lifetime Members. Since that time the couple have joined various Museum giving groups including the Spire Society, NCM Circle of Friends, and annual Winner’s Circle. Andrea joined Elfi’s Silver Pearl Sisterhood as well.

“I always encourage other Corvette enthusiasts to get involved with the Museum at whatever level they feel comfortable, to get involved with their local Corvette club, and to DRIVE their Corvette and enjoy it,” added Glenn.

“We thank the Johnsons not only for taking delivery with us today, but also for their thirteen years of supporting this nonprofit foundation,” shared Dr. Sean Preston, President and CEO of the National Corvette Museum. “People like Glenn and Andrea are the lifeblood of this organization and we love being able to celebrate such a fun and exciting day like this with them.”

The Museum will deliver nearly 600, 2020 model year, Corvettes over the next several months. This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Museum Delivery Program, with over 12,000 Corvettes having been delivered at the Museum since the program’s inception.

Commemorative items that are incorporated into the Delivery Program include the option to place a unique decal on the inside of the drivers’ door jamb to signify that the car was picked up at the Museum. Customers are presented with an individual one-year NCM membership, special lapel pin and a recognition plaque. R8C delivered Corvettes also feature a special license plate frame, and an interior nameplate with the customer’s name, date of delivery and VIN inside the car. Exclusive NCM Delivery merchandise may be ordered by participants. Customers who are bringing children along for the experience can notify the Museum to receive special perks through the Glazer Family Delivery Program.

Deliveries can be viewed world-wide on the Museum’s webcams at corvettemuseum.org. New Corvette buyers can add option code R8C to their order through any dealer. The program is an additional $995. Additional details on R8C and other unique programs is available on the Museum’s website.

The Museum is in Bowling Green, Kentucky at I-65 exit 28, on the same street at the world’s only Corvette assembly plant. Open daily, 8am-5pm CT, the Museum offers guided and self-guided tours, a Café, Corvette Store, racing simulator, seasonal Corvette rides, KidZone, meeting space, collector car insurance through NCM Insurance Agency and more. Across I-65 is the NCM Motorsports Park, offering hot lap Corvette rides, touring laps putting you behind the wheel of a Corvette, high speed go-karts, high performance driving events, short- and long-term garage rentals, meeting space and more.
