Four Corvette Icons Named to the 2026 Corvette Hall of Fame Class

Bowling Green, KY (April 24, 2026) – The Corvette Hall of Fame proudly announces its 2026 class of members-elect, who will be formally inducted during a ceremony on Saturday, September 5, 2026, as part of the National Corvette Museum’s 32nd Anniversary Celebration.

Established in 1998 by the National Corvette Museum, the Corvette Hall of Fame stands as the highest honor in the Corvette community. For 28 years, it has recognized trailblazers whose passion, integrity, and accomplishments have shaped the history of America’s Sports Car.

Each year, inductees are selected from three categories: Racing, GM-Chevrolet, and Enthusiast. The 2026 Corvette Hall of Fame class includes:

GM-Chevrolet – Kirk Bennion & Harlan Charles, Shaping the Legacy of Corvette

Harlan Charles

Kirk Bennion and Harlan Charles were two of the most recognizable faces on the Corvette team during their careers at General Motors. Bennion was a visionary designer who translated bold concepts into iconic shapes. Charles brought deep insight into what Corvette customers wanted, turning that feedback into real-world features and options.

Their roles often placed them side by side in product reveals, interviews, and enthusiast events, where they communicated Corvette’s evolution to the world.

Spanning decades and multiple GM brands, both Bennion and Charles found their most significant achievements with Corvette. Bennion began his GM career working on the Pontiac Fiero before joining Chevrolet’s Studio 3 in 1987. Charles started as Product Manager for the Oldsmobile Intrigue and joined the Corvette team in 2001. While both contributed to the development of the fifth, sixth, and seventh generations, their influence became most visible with the eighth-generation Corvette.

Bennion ensured the eighth-generation Corvette’s design balanced exotic styling with functional performance on the street and track. Charles pushed for features based on customer feedback, including performance upgrades and increased personalization options that reflected Corvette’s heritage.

They both shared a passion for special edition Corvettes and supported their development to help strengthen the connection between the brand and its community. Although their responsibilities were different, Bennion and Charles often worked toward a common purpose. Their collaboration earned respect inside GM and helped build trust among Corvette fans. Their time with the Corvette team left a lasting impact on the car and the people who love it.

Racing – John Middlebrook, General Motors Executive

John Middlebrook

John Middlebrook enjoyed a distinguished career at General Motors that spanned nearly 50 years. He rose to become the company’s Vice President of Global Sales, Service, and Marketing. A native of Lansing, Michigan, Middlebrook began his career with GM in 1959 at Oldsmobile. Eight years later, he moved to Pontiac as a sales analyst and eventually became Pontiac’s General Manager by the late 1980s. His expertise in sales and marketing earned him his first vice president role at GM in 1987.

Middlebrook made his most significant contributions to the Corvette as General Manager of Chevrolet, a position he began in 1996. He often referred to the Corvette as Chevrolet’s flagship vehicle and saw it as a reflection of the brand’s engineering and design leadership. He supported Herb Fishel and Doug Fehan in creating Corvette’s factory-backed racing program in partnership with Pratt & Miller. He also played a key role in strengthening the connection between Corvette and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, helping secure Corvette’s position as a frequent pace car for the Indianapolis 500.

When Middlebrook became a vice president overseeing all GM brands in 2004, he continued to support Chevrolet’s motorsports efforts, including the growing success of Corvette Racing. He retired from GM in 2008. Colleagues across the company and the racing world recognized him as a leader who helped shape both the automotive industry and Corvette’s legacy in motorsports.

Enthusiast – James Schefter, Author of All Corvettes Are Red

James Schefter

James Schefter is best known for his books, articles, and other works that explore the intersection of technology, industry, and American culture. He first gained national attention as a reporter for Time and Life magazines, where he covered the Apollo space program. Those experiences led him to write The Race: The Uncensored Story of How America Beat Russia to the Moon.

In the Corvette world, Schefter is most recognized for authoring All Corvettes Are Red: Inside the Rebirth of an American Legend. The book follows the development of the fifth-generation Corvette, offering a detailed look at how the car was designed, tested, and produced. It also explores the corporate challenges General Motors faced in the early 1990s and how a dedicated group within the company pushed to create a bold new version of America’s Sports Car under difficult conditions.

Schefter was granted eight years of rare access inside GM, and his research uncovered how individual personalities and internal processes shaped the fifth-generation Corvette. His work provided readers with a behind-the-scenes view of a major American automotive program.

The book and its research made Schefter a well-known figure in the Corvette community. He embraced that recognition and enjoyed driving his fifth-generation Corvette to Corvette shows and enthusiast events. Although he passed away in 2001, his work remains popular among Corvette fans for the insight it offers into GM’s history and the passion behind the car’s development.

About the Corvette Hall of Fame

Founded by the National Corvette Museum in 1998, 2026 marks the 28th anniversary of the esteemed award. Created to recognize the most influential individuals in the history of the Corvette and honor their achievements, nominees are selected by an anonymous panel of Corvette experts. A final group of 100 Corvette professionals makes up the Hall of Fame voting panel.

Kim Baker – Racing Category

Known as a powerhouse of endurance racing in the C4 era, Kim Baker built a legacy of performance that left an indelible mark on Corvette motorsports. Founder of Bakeracing, he dominated the SCCA Endurance Championship in 1986 and 1987, and his racing success led to Corvette’s temporary ban from competition in 1988. A former Corvette test driver and Goodyear development partner, Baker was instrumental in shaping the high-performance characteristics of the ZR-1, and was part of the world-record-setting ZR-1 team with Tommy Morrison.

Chuck Jordan – GM/Chevrolet Category

With a design career at General Motors spanning over four decades, Chuck Jordan left a bold and lasting impression on Corvette design. Starting his GM journey under Harley Earl, Jordan eventually rose to Vice President of Design in 1986. His influence extended from Cadillac tailfins to early Corvette styling, and his leadership helped shape futuristic concepts like the Corvette Indy, CERV III, and Stingray III. Beyond the drawing board, Jordan mentored countless designers, ensuring his legacy continues to drive innovation today.

Jim & Charley Robertson – Enthusiast Category

Corvette Racing fans know Jim and Charley Robertson as the heartbeat of the paddock. From organizing pit tours to running auctions that benefit both the Museum and local charities, the Robertsons have transformed Corvette Racing events into community-driven experiences. Their generosity and dedication have turned thousands of spectators into lifelong supporters of the brand and champions of the Museum’s mission.

Racing – Kim Baker, SCCA Corvette Racer

Kim Baker was a standout driver in the SCCA’s professional endurance racing division throughout the 1980s. Growing up in Western Massachusetts, he began his motorsports journey by competing in autocross events as a teenager. His SCCA career took off in 1984, shortly after he started racing his new C4 Corvette.

Over the next several years, Baker built his team, Baker Racing, into a dominant force in the SCCA Endurance Championship, capturing the title each year from 1985 through 1987. Two key factors behind his success were his experience as a Corvette test driver and his strategic partnership with Goodyear. Baker’s standout performance in 1985 earned him multiple bonuses from Goodyear, support he turned into a full sponsorship the following season.

Corvette became so dominant in the Endurance Championship that in 1988, the SCCA banned Corvettes and Baker Racing from competing in the division. Undeterred, Baker continued racing in other series and remained involved in Corvette performance testing. He contributed to the pre-production testing of the ZR-1 in 1989 and was a member of Tommy Morrison’s world-record-setting ZR-1 team.

Although Baker later explored stock car racing and other forms of motorsports, he and his team are still best known for their dominance in SCCA endurance racing and for enhancing the performance reputation of the C4 Corvette.

GM-Chevrolet – Chuck Jordan, General Motors VP of Design

Chuck Jordan had an affinity for sketching cars as a boy, and his passion for automobiles led to a 43-year career with General Motors, beginning in 1949. As a protégé of Harley Earl, Jordan held design roles with Cadillac, Opel AG, Oldsmobile, and Buick. In 1986, he became GM’s Vice President of Design, where his leadership revitalized the creative energy of the design staff.

Guided by the mantra “no dull cars,” Jordan championed the fun and excitement of automotive design, embracing both production vehicles and concept cars. Among his early contributions were the iconic Cadillacs of the late 1950s, recognized for their sweeping fins and bold chrome details. He also played a role in the design of the 1958 Corvette.

In the later years of his career, Jordan oversaw the design of vehicles such as the Pontiac Firebird, Buick Reatta, and Cadillac STS. As Vice President of Design, he directed the creation of several concept cars that had a significant impact on the Corvette’s evolution, including the Corvette Indy, the CERV III, and the Stingray III.

Jordan also influenced the styling of the C2, C3, and C4 production Corvettes and was a vocal advocate for preserving the Corvette program during the development of the C5. Deeply passionate about automotive design, he was admired and respected by colleagues across the industry. After retiring from GM, Jordan continued to inspire future designers by teaching automotive design to high school students in his native Southern California.

Enthusiast – Charley & Jim Robertson, Corvette Racing Ambassadors

They are on a first-name basis with drivers, team members, GM executives, and many fans. Gavin joined the team full-time in the No. 4 Corvette in 2003, and the following year Magnussen became a co-driver with Gavin and Olivier Beretta at Le Mans, Sebring, and Road Atlanta. The trio won Le Mans every year from 2004 to 2006, as well as Sebring once and Road Atlanta twice. For the 2007 season, Magnussen was recruited to drive full-time in the No. 3 Corvette. Juechter’s professional career with Corvette began in 1993 as a Total Vehicle Systems Engineer. To date, he has worked on five generations of Corvettes. He led the development of the C7 and made a special point to redesign the interior of the Corvette. The mid-engine C8 is the first Corvette Juechter got to create from the ground up. Under his leadership, the reputation of the Corvette as one of the world’s finest sports cars continues to grow.

He also serves as a tech editor for Corvette Magazine, writing several articles including a regular Q&A column. In 1999, Prince published his first book, a C3 restoration and technical guide.
Richard Prince

For more than 30 years, Richard Prince has built a career as a leading automobile photographer. Although Prince’s contacts and connections in the automotive world span the globe, he has a special relationship with Corvettes. Prince remembers driving a 1966 Corvette to his high school prom. After college, Prince and his wife started a Corvette restoration business in 1988 and the two of them would work on restoring many award-winning cars. Four years later, Prince’s editorial career began when he started writing a column for ‘Vette in 1992. As the column grew in popularity, he sold the restoration shop and began to expand his photography skills. Prince then established a partnership with Corvette Racing, planning to write a book about the team’s initial testing and first three years of competition. Once the factory program was renewed, Prince’s role transformed into the official photographer of Corvette Racing, capturing the team’s most iconic moments on the track.

In addition to his work with Corvette Racing, Prince’s photography has appeared in over 400 publications in more than 80 different countries. These publications include Car and Driver, Road & Track, Motor Trend, and Automobile. Prince serves as a tech editor for Corvette Magazine, writing several articles including a regular Q&A column. He has photographed every Corvette generation and variant from the C5 on. In 1999, he published his first book, a C3 restoration and technical guide. More recent works include Corvette 70 Years: The One and Only and Corvette Stingray: The Mid-Engine Evolution.

Tadge Juechter

In 2006, Juechter became the fifth chief engineer of the Corvette, a position he still holds today. However, his roots with GM stretch all the way back to 1977. Educated in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Juechter never intended to seek employment with GM, but he tagged along with a friend to a job interview with the company and wound up getting hired. He served in several different roles within GM including manufacturing, research and development, vehicle development, and product design. Juechter’s professional career with Corvette began in 1993. He became Total Vehicle Systems Engineer for the in-development C5, but also worked on later versions of the C4. Beginning in 1999, he served as Corvette’s Assistant Chief Engineer until assuming his current role.

To date, Juechter has worked on five generations of Corvettes. His contributions to the C6 version of the ZR-1 ensured that Corvette would remain part of GM’s product line as the company worked through bankruptcy. He led the development of the C7 and made a special point to redesign the interior of the Corvette. The mid-engine C8 is the first Corvette Juechter got to create from the ground up. Under his leadership, Corvette’s reputation as one of the world’s finest sports cars continues to grow.
