As for color lineup, Torch Red was the most popular again for 2021 with 5,171 of the cars in that hue. The complete final color lineup is as follows:

The Stingray Performance Package (Z51) was the most popular and selected for a total of 69.5% of the model year Corvettes. Front Lift was opted for on 61.1% of the cars while performance exhaust (NPP) is on 87.2%. For stripes, the carbon flash was the most popular and can be seen on 2,006 of the Corvettes. Of the total for the year, 361 were delivered to Japan, 246 to the Mideast, and 1,274 were delivered at the National Corvette Museum.

Making the cut for 2021 is the 2021 Chevrolet Corvette. The car was deemed a Best Buy because “This level of overall performance and ‘curb appeal’ usually costs thousands – if not tens of thousands – more.” The article also points out that the base-model Corvette can even spring from zero to sixty in only three seconds.

New features for 2021 include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are now standard, Magnetic Selective Ride Control is now available without the Z51 performance package, and there are new interior / exterior color and body-stripe options.

As with in most Corvette colors, you are really going to want to see this in person to gain the full affect. The Silver Flare is a color that GM team members describe as having a lot of ‘travel’ – meaning that as you walk around the car, the color can look different. Ask anyone to describe the hue, and you’ll get different answers. The lighting and position greatly affect what the color looks like.

Thanks to General Motors we were able to get some photos of the new Red Mist color on a freshly painted early build 2021 Corvette. If you’re lucky, you might see the car driving around Bowling Green. Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter shared during his seminar as part of the Museum’s 26th Anniversary that he, too, would be driving a 2021 Red Mist Corvette.

The color replaces Long Beach Red, which debuted for the 2016 model year. Production of the 2021 Corvette is anticipated to start sometime in November with an exact date being fluid as production of the current 2020 model year continues.

GM Bowling Green Assembly Plant Manager Kai Spande

Kai’s seminar shared the safety measures that were taken to open the plant back up, with production having started back on Tuesday, May 26. While daily output on any given day is normally 90 cars per shift, Kai indicated it will take a few weeks to ramp production back up. Day 1 yielded 15 cars as most of the day was spent going over health and safety measures with employees as well as refreshing and training new new staff on job instructions. Shipping will resume after at least a two week holding period.

During Tadge and Harlan’s presentation, the team shared statistics on the 2020 Corvettes that have been ordered. To date, Torch Red is the most popular color at 25%, followed by Arctic White at 15% and Black at 12%. Sebring Orange and Elkhart Lake Blue are at 7%, Rapid Blue, Ceramic Matrix Gray, Blade Silver and Shadow Gray are at 6%, Long Beach Red at 5%, and Accelerate Yellow and Zeus Bronze at 3%. Jet black interior, by far, is the most popular with 43%. 83% of the cars ordered are coupe and 17% convertible. 3LT was the most popular for both models with 44% on the coupe and 56% on the convertible.

The team shared images of the two new colors for 2021:

• Replacing Blade Silver is Silver Flare Metallic. Blade Silver debuted for the 2009 model year.
• Replacing Long Beach Red is Red Mist Tint Coat Metallic. Long Beach Red debuted for the 2016 model year.
