Moore.

This award-winning documentary is part of the “Left Behind” series directed by 8-time Emmy award winning producer, Pam Miller of FOX NASCAR and CBS Sports, along with co-executive producer Cindy Sisson, CEO of GSEvents, former 1984 Olympics sports marketer and Director of Marketing for Roush Racing tells the story of the one and only Betty Skelton.  “Boundless” marks the first of several films in the “Left Behind” series that tells untold stories of trailblazing women whose contributions to the automobile and motorsports world who have been reduced to footnotes in history.

From its inception, the automobile has been a catalyst for change. For over 100 years, car design and technology innovation impacted the industry while visions of freedom and glamour behind the wheel transformed society. Women have ALWAYS been part of this car culture. At times not welcome participants – they have proven themselves to be more than capable of handling the wheel and grabbing international headlines.  As the automobile became a fixture in family garages at the start of the 20th century – women drove in rally races when there were no paved roads, mastered the mechanics on the vehicle as they wrenched on engines, advocated for better roads, and some, set speed records. Suffragettes utilized the car in their quest to gain the right to vote. These women had the same passion for cars as their male peers. Women with big, outrageous personalities, entrepreneurs, socialites, “proper” or “improper” women, adventurers – these women made headlines across the globe and stole the spotlight from men at times.

Betty Skelton was known as the “First Lady of Firsts,” and made a lasting impact, breaking gender barriers in Motorsports, aviation, astronautics, and even in the advertising business throughout the 1950’s and 60’s.  Betty’s list of record setting achievements are numerous and many are still unparalleled today.  Betty Skelton was inducted into the Corvette Hall of Fame in 2001.

Come see a part of her fascinating story and hear from some of the experts who have studied her amazing life.
