Poker Run – Friday 10/25
For this year’s Poker Run we will travel to the Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine and Steam Train in Ashland, PA. Pioneer Tunnel is a horizontal drift mine. You make the trip in comfort, riding in open mine cars pulled by a battery-operated mine motor. The temperature inside the mine averages 52 degrees, so a sweater or jacket is recommended. The tour is educational as well as entertaining. This tour is handicap accessible and is appropriate for people of all ages. No pets allowed inside the mine. The visit will also include traveling back through time on an old-time narrow gauge steam locomotive, the Henry Clay. Built in the 1920s, The Henry Clay takes you on a scenic three-quarter mile ride around the side of Mahanoy Mountain to show you another kind of mining called strip mining. Both rides last approximately a half-hour.

As most of you know, Chip was the creator of Corvettes at Carlisle and was taken from us too soon from a little known disease called Amyloidosis. Corvettes for Chip™ is an organization of Corvette enthusiasts who host an annual Corvette car show to increase the awareness of the disease and donate the net proceeds to the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation for Amyloidosis Research.
