A Closer Look at America's Sports Car

As 2024 model year production wraps up, the numbers are in—and it’s been another great year for Corvette enthusiasts. With innovation and performance at the forefront, Chevrolet’s 2024 Corvette lineup continues to turn heads both on the road and at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY.

Total Production Numbers

The 2024 Corvette production totaled 42,934 units, spread across various exciting trims and configurations. Whether you’re a fan of the iconic Stingray, the track-ready Z06, or the electrifying E-Ray, each model showcases the style and performance that define America’s Sports Car.

• Stingray Coupe: 18,139 units
• Stingray Convertible: 12,803 units
• Z06 Coupe: 5,327 units
• Z06 Convertible: 5,248 units
• E-Ray Coupe: 599 units
• E-Ray Convertible: 818 units

Most Popular Configurations

The Corvette Stingray proves to be the heart of the lineup, with the coupe version leading production. The popularity of convertibles continues to soar, with enthusiasts opting for that open-air experience—especially with the Z06 Convertible, at 5,248 units produced.

The new E-Ray also made waves in its debut year, with 1,417 units produced between coupe and convertible models. This groundbreaking model is pushing Corvette performance into the future with its e-AWD assist.

Standout Colors

Every Corvette makes a statement, but the choice of color can truly set a car apart. In 2024, the most popular color choice was Arctic White, with 15% of buyers selecting it, followed by Black (12%) and Red Mist (11%). Other top-selling hues included Torch Red and Rapid Blue.

Interior Combinations

Inside, Corvette owners showed a penchant for sleek, high-performance aesthetics. Black was the leading interior color at 22%, while the Natural Dipped and Red Dipped interiors added an extra layer of exclusivity and style to the Z06 and E-Ray variants.

Performance Packages and Options

Corvette enthusiasts love to customize their rides, and this year, the Z51 Performance Package was once again a top choice for those looking to enhance performance, with 16,968 Stingrays equipped with the package. For the Z06, the popular Z07 Performance Package was optioned in 2,715 cars.

Torch Red was once again the most popular color choice for 2022. The complete color lineup is as follows:

The most popular performance package was the Z51 Performance Package selected for 68.6% of the 2022 model year Corvettes. Front Lift was chosen on 58.8% of the total model cars while option NPP Performance Exhaust came in at 86.9%. Carbon Flash was the most popular exterior stripe option and can be seen on 1,542 of the cars. Right-hand drive Corvettes accounted for 442 of total cars produced.  Australia/New Zealand received 212 deliveries, 693 went to countries in Europe, and 1,146 were option R8C for Museum Delivery at the NCM.

Corvette Stingray’s LT2 6.2L V-8 engine enters 2022 with an upgraded direct injection fuel system, improved engine calibration, and an enhanced Active Fuel Management range. It remains rated at 490 horsepower or 495 horsepower, with the available performance exhaust system. Driving through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, a Z51-equipped model is capable of 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds.

The mid-engine Corvette Stingray is offered in coupe and convertible models in 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT trims, with the Z51 Performance Package available on all trims. Magnetic Ride Control is available with or without the Z51 Performance Package. Coupes include a removable roof panel that stores in the rear trunk and convertibles include a power-retractable hardtop.

Dual cargo compartments offer a total of 12.6 cubic feet of cargo volume, with a trunk large enough for two sets of golf clubs.

Dealers will begin taking orders July 1, starting at $62,195, including destination freight charge, for coupe models and $69,695, including DFC, for the convertible. The MSRP excludes tax, title, license, dealer fees, and optional equipment. Bowling Green Assembly will begin model year 2022 production in late third quarter.

In left-hand drive markets, Chevrolet will release just 1,000 of these distinctively styled Corvettes, which resemble the No. 3 and No. 4 Corvette C8.R race cars. These special edition supercars were designed to commemorate the mid-engine Corvette C8.R’s inaugural season. In 2020, Corvette Racing swept IMSA’s sports car championship series, taking the Manufacturers, Drivers and Team titles.

Inside, the Special Edition features a Strike Yellow and Sky Cool Gray cabin that mimics the exterior yellow and gray racing theme, with standard GT2 seats (Competition Sport seats are available), along with yellow seat belts and a C8.R Special Edition numbered plaque.

Additional exterior content (varies by market):
• High-wing spoiler in Carbon Flash
• Yellow brake calipers
• Black Trident design wheels, with the “Jake” logo on the center caps, and black lug nuts
• Exterior mirrors in Carbon Flash
• Black side rockers
• Splash guards

Each car comes with a custom-fitted indoor car cover rendered to the appearance of the No. 3 or No. 4 Corvette C8.R race car, per each Special Edition’s color and graphic scheme.

The IMSA GTLM Championship Edition package starts at $6,595. The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price excludes tax.

Also, on the topic of changes, Spande discussed how General Motors has been working to remain customer and community centric even during the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the ways the plant gives back to the community is through plant tours. Although tours have not started back up yet, the plant has been preparing for their return and has gone through renovations during the downtime. Spande also announces that GM is on a journey to sourcing 100% renewable energy by 2030 to achieve a “greener tomorrow”. This project is made possible through GM’s partnership with TVA and their Green Invest Program. Spande says this is “a great thing to do from a company standpoint and a green standpoint” and that “a lot of jobs will come about from this.”

At the end of Spande’s presentation, the audience was surprised with the exciting announcement of the new 2022 colors. The new colors include Hypersonic Gray Metallic, Amplify Orange Tint-coat, and Caffeine Metallic. The colors they are replacing are Shadow Gray Metallic, Sebring Orange Tint-coat, and Zeus Bronze Metallic, respectively. The new Hypersonic Gray Metallic is described as a medium tone gray with a strong metallic content. This color will have travel, meaning that as light goes across the body of the car and the angles change, the shade of the color will also change. This helps show off the body of the car by helping to “magnify the sculpted lines.” The new Amplify Orange Tint-coat is lighter in color than the current Sebring Orange Tint-coat and is a straight shade, which means there is no metallic. This color is said to be the “Rapid Blue of orange” and is going to be a premium color option. The new Caffeine Metallic color “comes to life in the light” and has more metallic in it than any previous Corvette paint. There are many different hues that can be seen while this color is in the light including burgundy/red, silver, and gold metallic. These exciting new paint additions offer unique color options for Corvette buyers and look amazing.
