NCM SEBRING HPDE
March 29-30, 2013
Online Registration for the HPDE, Touring Laps and Autocross has closed. There will be on-site registration at the event on an as available basis.
Sebring – the symbolic start to the ALMS season and the lead in to the 24 Hours at Le Mans. That famous track becomes the newest venue for the start of the 9th year of the NCM High Performance Driving program. Just weeks after the 12 Hours at Sebring, the Corvette Museum participants descend on Sebring for 2 days of first class expanded track and Corvette experience. Now there is no need to go endless months between track events when you can get over those winter blues and inactivity by traveling to Florida for the season kick-off.
In addition to the usual 2 day High Performance Driving Event, the National Corvette Museum, working closely with local NCCC clubs is please to present a multi-faceted event. Florida Corvette Racing Club will hold a two day autocross as well. Spectator, car show and autocross participants can sign up for rides with the HPDE instructors and get a high speed view of the Sebring track as well as rides at the autocross.
In addition to the 3 run groups plus Instructor sessions there is a new feature; special Touring Laps for those with convertibles and/or drivers that don’t want to do the full out HPDE school. These laps will be special sessions with lead-follow direction to learn the line as well as basic classroom.
We expect to have a number of VIP Drivers available, Andy Pilgrim and John Heinricy, for celebrity drives and interesting classroom discussions as well as our crew of GM engineers and designers. And in case it crossed your mind, no we will not have a C7 mule on hand.
HPDE students are reminded that it is imperative that after registering they must fill out and return their Classification form and download their Driver Package for the tech sheets and key information. Although subject to change, the event agenda is available as well. Classification paperwork is required to be turned in to either Roc or Karen promptly after registration for correct run assignment. Those signing up for the special Touring laps should go through the tech forms to make sure your car is in proper condition. You do NOT need to change to high temperature brake fluid, track brake pads or bring a helmet (unless you plan to take high speed rides with an instructor).
The 2-day HPDE is $475 for an NCM member and $515 for Non-member (includes a 1 year discounted membership). The Touring lap option is available for $100 for 1 3-session day for the driver and $25 for a passenger. Garages are available for HPDE at $15. HPDE registration closes February 28th at 8:00am ct.
The autocross is $40 for the Friday practice day (non-sanctioned) or $10 for “I’ll try that once” outing. Saturday is $50 for 7 NCCC sanctioned events and rides are available as well. To view the sanction numbers and more detail on autocross click here for the event flyer. The autocross is open to all, NCCC and non-NCCC participants. Tech will be performed on site. Online registration closes at 8:00am March 22nd however on-site registration will be permitted.
Sanction numbers will be posted as soon as they are available. Contact Sam Cappello at samc@oracool.net for autocross information.
