calendars…..the National Corvette Museum presents a first-ever
gathering of last of the Sharks! June 28th through July 1st
has been set aside to honor the end of an era in Corvette
history, when the last of the world-renowned Sharks rolled
off the assembly line in Bowling Green. Of note are the highly
prized Corvette Collector Edition Hatchbacks (RPO 1YY07).
Also in attendance will be the 1980, 1981 and 1982 Corvettes.
year, we celebrate 20 years of Corvette building in Bowling
Green, Kentucky. The Corvette Assembly Plant moved its operations
from St. Louis, Missouri to Bowling Green in 1981. Production
began on June 2, 1981 with the enamel base coat and clear
coat Corvettes, plus the two-tone paint schemes. A display
at the National Corvette Museum honoring the men and woman
of the Bowling Green Plant will be presented all summer long.
start the festivities with an early bird event on Thursday,
June 28th - an evening at Bowling Green's RaceWorld go-cart
tracks. Special discounted rates will be available for those
brave souls that wish to take on the challenge of go-cart
Friday's agenda includes a VIP tour of the Corvette Assembly
Plant and National Corvette Museum. Convene at the Corvette
Assembly Plant for a unique VIP tour. A possible treat awaits
those that return to the NCM later that afternoon. It will
surely be a pleasant surprise!
Friday evening, there will be a BBQ at Wendell and Jan Strode's
Historic 1869 Homestead.
will feature informative seminars from Corvette celebrities
that were involved firsthand in the production of these wonderful
Corvettes. Take your time and visit the NCM as you've never
done before, taking in the sights and sounds of Corvette's
home! A Celebrity Choice Car Show will be presented on the
Museum's grounds, and later, a Poker Run through parts of
Warren, Barren and Allen counties. Don't forget to get to
the Museum early as we will have a group photo session on
the Museum's Front Circle.
evening will be the high watermark of the event as we dine
in the Museum's Skydome with catering by one of the region's
finest restaurant. Libations will be available beginning at
5:30 p.m. Guest speakers, car show award presentations and
a benefit auction of Corvette memorabilia will enhance this
unique dining experience.
And if all
of that is not enough, Sunday morning we will be treated to
another once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for individual owner/car
photo sessions at the Assembly Plant. To cap the weekend off,
we will do a final scenic road tour!
