1957 Corvette
The 1957 Corvette was the first car ever to
combine fuel injection with a four speed manual transmission. Engine displacement
increased to 283ci and the most powerful option engine developed 283hp, one horsepower for
every cubic inch! After winning a few major races in 1957, sales for the year jumped to a
total of 6,339 units, up from 3,467 for 1956.
