My Special Event Blog

We asked some of our facility rental customers to share stories from their special event. Below are examples of how your next event can be special, right here at the National Corvette Museum!

Club Room

Autumn's Baby Shower
Our friend Autumn was expecting her first baby, and since she works for FotoFX within the Museum, we thought having a shower in the club room would be fun and convenient! It was a small gathering, so we set up a food buffet table to the left of the board table by the sink area, and we put a cake and punch table to the right of the board table. Both were at an angle and at the head of the room. We covered all the tables in matching tablecloths, and used balloons, streamers and signage to give the room a baby theme. Upon arrival guests placed gifts in the center of the board room table. The room was the perfect size for an intimate gathering... and the men who came along enjoyed it because they could do a Museum tour while we held the shower! - Katie

Conference Center

Bowling Green High School Class of 1980
July 10, 2010 Bowling Green High School Class of 1980 hosted their 30 year class reunion in the Museum's Conference Center. The room was accented in purple and yellow for the school's colors, and attendees had plenty of room for dancing! NCM was glad to host their class!
Bonnie and Paul Elmore's 50th Wedding Anniversary
May 16, 2010, Bonnie and Paul Elmore celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with 200 guests in the Museum's conference center. To make the event even more special, Bonnie's original wedding dress was on display, and the couple had a slide show of wedding and family photos playing on two projection screens.

Savko-Sanderfur Wedding Reception
The couple wanted a reception to remember, and that it was with their arrival in a 50th Anniversary Corvette! The Conference Center dons two overhead bay doors, making their grand entrance of pulling into the reception driving a Corvette possible. The couple also took advantage of the unique indoor Boulevard with loads of photo ops. Mother of the bride, Janette Boehman, provided some feedback:

Q. Why did you choose to have your event at the NCM?
A. I had attended another function there and thought that the spaciousness would be perfect for the amount of guest that we were anticipating.

Q. Tell us about the decor.
A. I do wedding flowers so I had various resources to complete the look I was going for. Having the ability to let the bride and groom drive into the reception was icing on the cake. Great atmosphere!

Q. What do you feel made your event stand out from other events?
A. The atmosphere was great. Everyone commented on how much fun they had, and how much room there was to move around. Plenty of parking even though there was another event going on. We thought it was a perfect place to have the reception. I'd do it again - but thank goodness I don't have to!

Q. How was your overall experience?
A. The service was great and everyone was extremely helpful. It was a fantastic experience and I appreciated everything that was provided!

Casino Wedding

Vegas Themed Wedding Reception
After returning from their wedding at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada on 8/9/10 at 11:12 a.m., Josh and Lindsey wanted to continue the theme with a reception for their family and friends who were unable to attend the ceremony.  Trying to recreate the diverse flair that Vegas offers, the couple used food booths – Asian area, a hot dog stand, Italian area, and a dessert bar.  For guest tables, the couple choose to use rectangle tables (a current event trend) over the circular tables, giving it more of a roulette feel.   The reception was topped off with gambling area filled with faux chips for bingo and blackjack.
