National Corvette Museum Driver’s Education Programs
2018 NCM Driver’s Education Programs
The Tire Rack Street Survival school is a safe teen program designed to go beyond today’s required driver’s education and give teens across the U.S. the driving tools and hands-on experience to become safer, smarter drivers. Trained and qualified in-car driving instructors as well as classroom experience for each student.
The primary emphasis of the Tire Rack Street Survival® is a “hands-on” driving experience in real-world situations! We use your own car to teach you about its handling limits and how you can control them. The students will become more observant of the traffic situation they find themselves in. They will learn to look far enough ahead to anticipate unwise actions of other drivers. As the students master the application of physics to drive their cars, they will make fewer unwise driving actions themselves. They will understand why they should always wear their own seatbelts, and why they should insist that their passengers wear seatbelts, too.
It’s about more than driving – it’s about LIVING!

MEchanics – Presented by Leachman Cadillac and Autozone
MEchanics is a class that takes place at the National Corvette Museum that gives students of all ages the information they need to take proper care of their car. From checking your oil, to changing a lightbulb, to changing a tire, this class covers everything a driver needs to know about their car to keep it running strong and running safe.
MEchanics classes are limited to groups of 5-20 students so every student has an opportunity to ask questions and actively participate in the class.
Scouting groups can also earn a patch for their active participation in MEchanics.
The cost per person for MEchanics is $20, which includes museum admission.
Classes are scheduled catering to your group’s availability. To schedule your MEchanics class, please contact Steven Teleky at 270-777-4514, or [email protected]
Through the Kentucky Maneuvers class, students of all ages learn or get a review on basic maneuvers found on Kentucky roads. This class taking place in the National Corvette Museum is a class that goes over the basics of parking, parallel parking, turnabouts, merging, and much more.
Students will also be educated on what it takes for a car to pass inspection to run on Kentucky roads – a common setback for new drivers who want to get a licence, but do not have a car that will pass inspection.
Students who do not have a permit will also have the opportunity to develop study tools for the learner’s permit exam.
Students who do have a license will have the opportunity to practice these Kentucky Maneuvers in a controlled environment at the NCM in their own vehicle.
Cost is only $20 and includes museum admission.
Registration and event details for Kentucky Maneuvers can be found on our event calendar under “Community and Educational Events”

Traffic Safety Education Foundation
Professional road racer and Corvette Hall of Fame inductee Andy Pilgrim, a member of the NCM Motorsports Park team, has located his Traffic Safety Education Foundation to Bowling Green, KY. Andy first became interested in road safety in the mid-90’s as a give back project, initially speaking to high school students in FL. Wanting to take things further, he launched The Traffic Safety Education Foundation as an official 501(c)(3) organization in 2008.
Distracted driving is a growing epidemic in the US and the main cause for the massive increase in traffic deaths and injuries over the last 3 years. Andy has produced several educational videos to help improve things. They are aimed at new drivers, parents with children of all ages and driver education teachers. Understanding the need for younger children to know more about the dangers of distracted driving, Andy also produced a mobility curriculum for grade 4 through 8 students.
Autographed copies of Pilgrim’s educational DVDs are available for purchase through the Corvette Store, and a number of outreach programs will be offered through the Traffic Safety Education Foundation. To learn more, visit trafficsafetyeducationfoundation.org.
